Ipod touch 5th gen won't play music when apple logo with woman appears

My ipod has started showing the apple music logo superimposed on a picture of a young woman leaning against a wall with large headphones on. Whenever it does this I can no longer access my music and if any music is playing it stops it. I'm thoroughly underwhelmed with the product as it's been trouble ever since I got it, plus the new OS makes navigating my music library a pain. Does anyone know how to navigate past the logo or what to do to stop this nuisance?
