Repair Disk Permissions Stops what shall I do. Stop permission repair ? Or what else ??

Disk Utility says the Disk is OK.

Verify Disk Permissions signals lots of problems (very long list) so that it needs to run Repair Disk Permissions.

Repair Disk Permissions starts ... but never reaches an end. Now, since 2 ours is claiming `Estimated time:2 minutes'.

Shall I stop the program since it is clear it will not go any further ?
