Q: understanding the firewall, ports?
Hi all,
i have a simple question for understanding how the osx firewall works...
For example in windows, i can either enable applications, or i can enable a port.
The firewall in osx (10.11.1) only can enable some already known system services, or applications.
Does this mean ... when i enable an application, all ports the app is listening to are enabled?
Or is there an other way to enable/disable specific ports?
greetings from germany

firewall port management with the OS X firewall tool is not available. It is by Application only.
If you require a firewall you will need a 3rd party app that allows port management.
