Why are images in iCloud mail body not being sent?

I have copied a table from an outlook email message and have pasted into an email that I created using my iCloud email. It appears in the iClound mail message and it appears to be sent OK, however, the embedded image disappears in the message, when the recipient receives the email.

Is this the intended behavior of iCloud email?
