I get pixelation in text when I export an mpeg4 file, how can I fix this?
How can I get clean text when I export an Mpeg 4 file from Final Cut Pro X? The text looks great in the .mov file but terrible in the Mpeg4.

What are your project specs?
And what Share options ("Destinations") are you using to compare the mp4 to the mov files.

PPost screenshots of what you're seeing.
The project is 1920 x 1080. Whe I export, I am using the "Computer" setting with the "Better Quality" codec.
Please make the timeline window active and enter Command-J and then take a screenshot of the top of the Info pane in the Inspector.
Also what is the mov Share option? There are quite a number of them.

CCan you open them both in the QuickTime player rather than different players. Also show the QT inspector for both. There isn't that much difference between the two. It may just be a difference in data rate. A bolder font might encode better using a heavy compression codec.
IF one is ProRes and the other is H.264 you'll certainly see a difference, sort of like the difference between a Maserati and a Honda.
It was the player. In the quicktime player it looks fine but my system defaults to the Mpeg Stream Clip player for Mpeg files and on that player at full screen the text looks pixilated, but the same file on the Qucktime player looks fine at full screen. Thanks for your help in helping me discover this.
I am afraid I am locked into this font as the client is also using it in other parts of the exhibit.
Thanks for letting us know what was causing it.
Russ
Just to double check, I also opened the file in a Windows Media player and it looked fine there as well. Thanks again.
