I'm not receiving notification of text messages

Since the last update, I'm missing several texts. Why won't the text appear in bold anymore? Why isn't there sound, vibration or indication that i am receiving a text? Can someone please help? I've gone into settings and checked the notifications. I've turned them off and back on again but nothing has changed. I've reset my phone.. it's so frustrating.
