how to share non purchased music in iTunes to iPhone

I have some music that a friend recorded that I have imported into my iTunes library as MP4's and .WAV files. How can I sync/share this music to my iPhone? I can listen to the music from my MacBook and Airplay it to several devices, but really want to save this music to my iPhone. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
