After wiping mac and re-instaling the operating system from disc # 1, disc #2 would not install the extras (iPhoto etc.,) that came with the mac when purchased.
Message says that could not install software because there was no software found to install.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), with 2 install discs
If you are certain that there is a functioning Snow Leopard OSX installed, try this:

Thanks, I tried the link but it did not install the missing extras, did an update on the snow leopard OS.
As I indicated, I did not know if it would work. Unfortunately it did not. Based on your original post, there should be no reason that the second disk should not work and that I find to be a puzzle.
I would try to install Snow Leopard on an external HDD using the two disks. If it fails again, then the best option is a visit to an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be FREE and I know that have the capacity to install an OSX in your Mac.

I thought that Snow Leopard came on one dual-layer DVD, not two disks?
My 2010 MBP came with 2 Snow Leopard disks. Perhaps some other Mac models were different?

Disc 1 has the Snow Leopard OS on it, Disc 2 has the bundled software on it(iPhoto etc.,
So i am missing the extra software.
If you insert the disk, in Finder, can you see what files are on it?
When i click on finder nothing shows.
Check Finder/Preferences to make sure CDs/DVDs are set to show either in the Sidebar and/or Desktop. Insert the DVD and see if it show up. If not it may be a DVD loading problem

Thanks, I have it fixed, went to the app store and checked my purchase history. Everything was there for me to download again and it fixed the missing software, thanks for your input.
