The initial set up was taking a long time so shut down our new Mac Book Pro. Now when it goes through start-up it gets just over half way and a circle with a slash through it appears on a black screen. Cannot progress beyond this point, just took it out of the box a couple of hours ago.

- Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM

- Try starting in Safe Mode

- Boot to Recovery and repair the startup disk

- If it is repairable reinstall the OSX
