I've transferred my photos from old mac to new but the albums haven't populated

I've recently bought a macbook Air and have transferred data from my old pro. All the photos came in INCLUDING the album titles but the albums themselves haven't been populated. Resorting them into albums will be a nightmare. Happy to delete data and do again. I did the migration assistant with an ethernet cable and email folders, contact folders, Firefox favourites etc all came through fine except for photos. Help please!
