Apple TV frequently boots me back to the main menu in the middle of watching a video, then prompts to enter Apple user ID and password

Has been doing this for a while, but more frequently lately (multiple times during a 45 minute program on Netflix or Hulu). I have entered my user ID & password SO MANY times and it makes no difference. it will still kick me back out 10-20 minutes later. It has happened on both Netflix & Hulu (I don't really use any other apps) so I'm convinced it is the TV and not an issue with app functioning. I checked and our software is up to date. Restarting the Apple TV did not help. It's super annoying because every time it happens I have to go back through about 10 screens to get back into Netflix, choose account, get back to the show I was on, then the episode, then have to hit play separate from choosing the episode, then tell it you want to resume playing & not start over. Sometimes it will even kick me back out before I get show pulled back up. Extremely frustrating. I have no idea what gen it is, all I can find (from Settings) is the model: MC572LLA. It is currently running software version 6.2.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have a roku on my other TV and it runs much more smoothly so if I can't get this solved I will likely be purchasing one for this TV as well to replace Apple TV. This is just so much trouble at this point.

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
