My Safari all of sudden won't launch.

Safari won't launch. I get a message box that says, "Safari quit unexpectedly." Then, gives me option to Ignore, Report or Reopen. I have shut down computer and opened again and still it won't launch. It is updated to the latest version.

What's wrong?

Thank you.

Hi pwilson09,

If the Safari application won't launch on your MacBook Pro, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try. You may not need to do all of these, but I wanted to provide a comprehensive list of resources here for you. Click on the links below for more detailed information.

  • Hold down the Shift key when you launch Safari to prevent Safari from automatically reopening any windows.
  • Shut down the computer and restart in Safe Mode.
  • Check for Malware
  • Check pop up settings and adware
  • Turn off Safari Extensions, then turn them back on one at a time to test.
