Diagnosing power supply, something blew

I Have an iMac model A1224, emc 2133 2.4 ghz! early 2008 20 inch screen. I was trying to diagnose to see if it wouldn't turn on because the power supply went bad. When I plugged it in & pushed the start up button something caused some of the soldering to blow on the power supply board. I never have found those LED lights. The question is, will I have the same problem if I replace the power supply? Or could it be the plug that is the problem? I don't see where I can replace the power cord. I just want to get my Mac up & running again because I don't have $1500 for a new one & I hate pc's.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Model # A1224, emc 2133
