This is bizarre...
I just started up my iMac and noticed App Store icon showed 1 update available. After opening, it was almost finished downloading. Then I noticed it was the same EPSON Printer Software Update 3.1 as already installed. And after rechecking on Updates again there were even more of them listed below.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 24 GB Memory
Repeated entries of items in the 30 day list are an indicator that the software has not been installed.
To check go to About This Mac, System Report, Software, Installations. If it is not listed there it has not
installed.
An alternative would be to go to the Apple Support Download pages and download from there.
I thought you were correct at first, but now I'm not sure because I did add the printer after the update. I had previously added the printer using the download from EPSON but then I removed the printer and deleted those files to start fresh after it was released from App Store Updates on the 24th.
About This Mac>System Report>Software>Installations shows three EPSON installations but I'm not sure if they are only related to the download I made from EPSON site (see screen grab below). Would the Apple release still show source as "3rd Party"? I downloaded and installed from EPSON on the 23rd, then removed/deleted and installed App Store Update on 24th, as it shows. Also, why did it wait until the 30th to try updating again, multiple times and now it has stopped? Regardless, the printer is added and working. Again, how is that possible if the printer sw is not installed?
Addendum:
Here's a screen grab of Printer & Scanner Pref's. As I said, t's been added and printing since App Store update. Should I still download/install "Epson Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X" if it's working? It's 1.22 GB!
If you feel the printer is working well and you are able to utilise all its capabilities, then all well and good,
you may not feel the need to download vers 3.1, but it shouldn't do any harm or take up any more space
as it probably overwrites the existing files. Make a back up first incase you need to go back.
Seems to have resolved itself... either Epson update finally took or following El Capitan updates. Running Sierra now so we'll see how it continues.
