italian layout on american keyboard

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a Mac Book Air with the american keyboard. I sometimes switch between the US configuration and the

italian one, since I am used to it and it's more convenient for accents.

My problem is that I can't figure out how to type backslash and pipe using the italian configuration. In the standard italian

keyboard the left shift is smaller and so next to it you find < and >, but in this keyboard <> are in the top left, just above

tab. Now, this would be the place for backslash and pipe! I tried all the combination and I still don't manage to type them

appear in the italian configuration...someone has any suggestion?

thanks a lot!
