how do I install office 2016 on macbook without cd/dvd drive?

Just ordered a MacBook pro and MS Office 2016 for my daughter's school work.

I don't think the MacBook has a cd/dvd drive. How do I install the Office 2016? Is there MS or Apple website to download the software and use the key that comes with the Office?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Yes, you’ll need to upgrade to at least 10.10 - Yosemite. The current version of the OS is 10.11 - El Capitan.

If you aren’t using a backup program such as Apple’s TimeMachine I strongly recommend that you back up the computer before upgrading. In most cases upgrades occur without major issues and the upgrade from 10.9 to either Yosemite or El Capitan shouldn’t cause any problems. But it is best to be safe.

Also, while I’ve happily used 10.11 for several months without any big problems, I can only recommend it with reservations and you might be better off moving to 10.10 now and waiting for 10.11 to mature. Yosemite no longer appears in Apple Store but if you call AppleCare they’ll give you a link to download it.
