I am trying to remember a wifi PW, when I click on show password, I used to be able to enter my Mac PW and it would show the PW. Now, I get this pop up instead. When I enter my system name and PW, and does nothing. I have to hit deny to make it go away.
I'm running El C so I can't try disk permissions repair. Any ideas?

Use the lowercase username, not the uppercase one on that prompt (Assuming your username is david or davidstembridge)
Just tested and it works for me - instead of typing in Joe Apple, I just type in joe in the username field and my password.
If that doesn't work, run Key Chain First aid repair
Keychain Access menu > First Aid

what version is your keychain access? and are you running El Capitan?

I logged into recovery mode and ran a first aid. It is working now... thanks for all the tips!
