My Lacie disk isn't showing and I keep getting the "disk not ejected properly"

Help! I have three Lacie disks. Two of them work fine, the other one that contains all of my iPhoto Library (photos and videos) doesn't show on my computer at all and used to. The other drives show up and work like they are supposed to. When I have iPhoto open, I keep getting the "disk not ejected properly", but why am I getting this when the computer doesn't show it's connected? I am in desperate need of getting this drive to not only connect to my computer, but to get all of my photos/videos back! The drive acts like it is working, flashing light, etc., but I can't see it on my computer to access it. When I called Lacie, they had me hook up the drive directly to the computer via USB. Right now all three drives are connected through a lightning bolt that's been working for a long time. When I connected the "bad" drive to my computer via USB, it didn't show on my computer. Lacie is thinking it's a bad drive, but I think my computer doesn't want to accept it or maybe it thinks its connected and that's why its giving me the disk not properly ejected message. Can somebody help me before I go insane?!

If you have been using Time Machine to backup your system, chances are you have a valid backup of the HD. If you have not being backing up the EHD then you may have a serious issue.

First check the cable of the EHD and replace it if necessary. If the drive still will not show up, then it has likely failed. Open Disk Utility and see if it can be seen and repaired. If it cannot be seen then it has likely failed.

If you don't have a backup you can try to use data recovery software such as DiskWarrior or DataRescue. If those fail then you can take the drive to Data Recovery service, however be prepared to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Going forward, ALWAYS have a sound backup plan of all your data.

Good luck.

My MAC HD is only one year old and has no photos. My Lacie 3TB that I bought in 2013 has 30,000+ photos/videos that looks like it's working, blue light flashes, but doesn't connect to my computer. While having iPhoto open, I keep getting the error message of the 3TB disk not ejected properly. I need to know how to connect this 3TB Lacie disk to my HD so I can get the photos/videos. Does this make sense? Or do I need to have Seagate rape me of $500 to retrieve the photos/videos (hopefully)?
