Before recent updates, I could insert photos into Word docs or my Wordpress photo library by dragging and dropping - now I move the image and it highlights like it's going to work, and then nothing happens. In Wordpress I can do a longer upload process that works but in Word even the insert from file command results in constant loading and the photos never show up on screen so I can select them.

Drag and Drop to Word does not work for Photos, because Word needs an update to be fully compatible.
To insert photos into Word documents use the Photo Browser in Word, it will show the Photos library. For example in Word 15.15:
I do not know, which versions will show Photos in the Photos Browser or not, sorry.
I have Microsoft Office 2016, and the Photo Browser is showing all my photo libraries.
When I am using Word from Microsoft Office 2011, only iPhoto and Aperture are showing in the Photo Browser, but not Photos.
Do I need Office 365 to access the photo browser?
