what's the "mail.app"

I found a file "mail.app" in my iMac applications folder. What is this? On the screen of my iMac appears perpetually "Put Your password for Facebook". It's not possible to cancel. Facebook, e-mails and internet is running OK.

Mail.app is the OS X Mail application you likely use. The applications folder is the folder used to store all OS X applications.

Regarding the Facebook issues, perhaps you can show a screen shot of what you are trying to describe.
