iPhone 6 not sending messages to 2016 Toyota Entune messaging

I have paired my phone via Bluetooth to the car and receiving calls, but text messaging stops after only a couple of test messages. I have turned on "allow notifications" in the Settings>Bluetooth>Car Multimedia>info tab. In messages I have "show in lock screen allowed". But then sometimes I only get notified of an incoming text and cannot choose the option to read the message. I have unpaired/repaired, rebooted phone and still having issues just receiving text messages. Any suggestions?

I wish apple would allow the send a reply message feature of Entune with their phones. Makes me want to go back to android.
