iMac constantly freezes

Question

Late 2009 - iMac 27&#x27;&#x27; running 10.9.1iMac will constantly freezes with mouse will able to move around the screen but nothing will respond. Then it will catch up.888gbs free on the hard drive. Etreheck results. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it.Hope someone can help! I will be so appreciative!! The only thing that stands out is you are a little bit LOW on RAM If you add more be sure you get either.Crucial RamorMemory for iMac 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, &amp; now 32GB - OWC Certified RAM for Apple iMac with Lifetime WarrantyAll others can cause problemsCheers and Good LuckDon Morgan

I concur. If  you&#x27;re using Parallels, you&#x27;re going to have to at least double your RAM.

hi there!Thanks ! I not using Parallels and just have it installed. Is 4GB RAM not enough? It used it be really quick and now all of a sudden decided to play up.

On Apple Support Communities, we don&#x27;t have access to the kind of tools that would nail down the problem. The most obvious potential issue relates to the somewhat low amount of virtual memory; this can point to a potential problem. But I noticed one thing just now that&#x27;s vexing:        Macintosh HD (disk0s2) / : 999.35 GB (888.12 GB free) - 5 errorsDrive failure!In other words, back up immediately, to go to your Apple Store so they can validate this.
