Problems with El Capitan and using my MAcBook Pro password.

After I down loaded El Capitan I was not able to use my password to sign into my MacBook Pro. The only way I can get in now is to restart in Safari guest mode, only there can I use my password and sign in as myself. Does anyone know how to fix this or how to get rid of El Capitan and go back to Yosemite.

Thank you

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Do you have a backup of your files? If so restart in recovery> Command R. You can then use disk utilities to see if repairing permissions will help. If not you can go to recovery and reinstall. Normally this will not delete any of your files. This is just for safety. Use an ethernet connection for recovery. If this does not solve the problem then I have a thread from Link Davis on the same thing that is helpful. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7085816
