How to record full 720p video clips with built in web cam?

How can I record full 720p clips with the built in web cam and built in software? I see that photo booth does it but it uses a bizarre square resolution. I want normal 720p for youtube or similar? Is this possible with built in software? If so how? If not are there any free programs that will do the trick? Thanks.
