What doe the popularity bar indicate?

I don't have an answer, just a comment:

I performed a Gxxxxxe search and found that a great number of want to be knowledgeable people had an even greater number of unusable speculations as to the actual purpose of the bar in question. Quite amazing.

Perhaps someone may actually know and share the information with us. Thanks in advance.

If you are looking at an album in the store then the popularity shows the relative sales for the tracks on that album - so if one track is at 100% and one at 25% then that track has a quarter of the sales of the 100% track.

Hi King_Penguin,

I don't understand the whole theory of relativity thing. So if a bar is at 100% it does not represent a real number, in other words, 100% of 3 people found it popular? Or 50% of 100,000 people? Do you see where I'm lost here?

I see what you are saying within an album, but what about comparing singles between different artist? I guess I should have mentioned that earlier. I hope you understand.

Thank you so much.
