retrieve lost files from mini sd card

My Mom has photos on her micro SD card and dropped her phone in the sink. Now we can't retrieve them. The card was not immersed but may have accidentally gotten wet, or been erased. Does anyone know and trust a good software to retrieve files from a micro SD card?
