How to drag and drop photos to Pages document?

Can't drag/drop photo to documents. Help! I have an Apple laptop and ios 9.1. Cannot figure out a way to do this, and it ought to be easy, like copying/pasting text.

iPad Air, iOS 9.1

Both Pages '09 and the Pages v5 series support drag and drop of photos on your Mac — providing that image is not a proprietary camera vendor raw image format, an Adobe Flash generated photo on a web page, or simply an image format unsupported by Pages. Are you attempting to drag/drop an image into/onto another document object (e.g. Text box, Shape, Table cell, etc.)?

What version of Pages on your Mac. What version of OS X on your Mac. What is the name of the extension of the photo to better understand its image format?

I found a work-around, but it's not easy-peasy, nor is it intuitive.

Here's what to do:

Close all windows except the photos screen and your document.

Drag all the photos you want to paste onto the desktop (that is, drag each photo off the photo page and onto the blue backdrop of the desktop).

Now go to the document and drag each photo from the desktop to the document.

Then go back and put the desktop photos in the trash can.

Clumsy, but it does work.

I can't believe Apple doesn't support drag-and-drop for photos. Seems like any Apple customer who writes Christmas letters, produces newsletters, composes reports, etc. has a need to do this.

You have us all confused.

Are you using a Mac laptop or are you actually using an iPad running iOS 9?

They are not the same thing, and they are running different software and different operating systems. If it is a Mac laptop click on the Apple menu top left to see what version of OSX you are using.

And you have not told us what version of Pages you are using.

Click on > Menu > Pages > About Pages

What you are describing sounds like a Mac . It is not necessary to drag your photos to the desktop, they can be located in any folder anywhere. They can also be in web pages, but it depends how they are embedded in the page. Mostly they can be dragged from the page but sometimes they can't.

What exactly is the "photo page"? This sounds like the real reason why you can't directly drag and drop.
