Q: Confused about Time Machine
I feel so dumb bc I 've been researching this for 2 days and can't seem to find a definite solution.
I was gifted a new 3TB hard drive. It's been reformatted for my MacBook and now it's asking if I want to use for Time Machine. It seems obvious to use this as a back up disk. But I also would like to use it for storage to free up space on my internal hard drive. I've read that I can have 1 partition for Time Machine and use another for storage. Is that accurate or has anyone done that before (I found instructions online). Is the purpose of Time Machine just to restore my laptop in case the internal hard drive crashes? Or does it back make copies of all the current files I have also? I may be over thinking it all but I just don't want to take any unnecessary steps.
TIA for any suggestions!
My capacity is 318.84 GB, Used 252.1 GB with 66.74 GB available.
