How to import CD's through Family Sharing?

Hi. So I have the Macbook Pro Retina which does not come with a DVD Drive so i decided maybe on my old PC which included a dvd drive, i could use home sharing and transfer the songs. Well, i enabled homesharing and the library thing but iTunes would not let me import any songs from the CD from the PC's library and it wouldn't let me import anything from the PC's library to my mac. Is there a way to make this work? They are on the same wifi and they both have the same settings and same iTunes version. Thanks.

iTunes cannot be used to rip music from CDs on remote discs. In fact I don't know of any software that will.

You should be able to share any file type with Home Sharing. I don't use it so I can't help.
