OS X can't repair the disk

Hi

I have a G Drive mobile USB that usually works right, but recently I plugged it in to my computer, and a message showed up saying that OS X can't repair the disk "G-DRIVE mobile USB" and that I can still open or copy files on the disk, but I can't save changes to files on the disk and to back up the disk and reformat ASAP. Can you help me figure out what this means and how to fix it?
