Safari history in OS X and IOS

Hi, I am currently running OS X 10.11.1 and my iPhone is on the latest version of IOS 9.1.

I have noticed that when I clear the history in Safari in OS X it keeps coming back until I clear the same history on my iPhone.

Is there anyway to stop this as all I want is to clear the history is OSX and leave it at that without it keep coming back and having to clear it again on the iPhone?
