iMac is running slowly

My iMac has been running slowly lately and I am not sure if my kids have downloaded some kind of app or software that is the cause of the problem. I say this because my wife has been getting continual google security alerts that an "App" is trying to log into my daughters google account. I have used the disk utility to run disk repair and disk verify but nothing bad was found. I have since run erte check tonight and posted the results. I am curious if anyone sees any smoking guns:

Well your system looks fine except it is starved for RAM. A late 2009 iMac can support up to 32GB of RAM, I'd recommend you install 8GB which would get you up to 12GB. If you decide to do so then only use Crucial or OWC (www.macsales.com) RAM. iMacs are finicky about using high quality RAM. Both recommended vendor provide that at reasonable prices and have top notch customer service.

System Launch Daemons:(What does this mean?)

Ad Daemon is a process that runs looking for a call to the process. An example of a daemon is your print process, it is always running and looking for something to print, you do not have to start it to print.

Top Processes by CPU: (What does this mean?)

This output tells you what processes use most of your CPU cycles. I would look to why the web uses so much, but I am not sure if this is cumulative over time. I am sure someone can tell us.

Top Processes by Memory: (What does this mean?)

This tells you which process use the most RAM, once again the web process is concerning, at least to me.

Virtual Memory Information: (What does this mean?)

This is basically your RAM used. Here you can your SWAP is high. What this does is SLOW down your computer since this is memory that is used to run applications and is stored on a DISK. As you can see your RAM used is very high which leads to SWAP being used after the RAM is used beyond the allowable limits of the application. Unfortunately you cannot put a dent in the SWAP with the memory you have.

Diagnostics Information: (What does this mean?)

This seems to say that your are not logged in as the administrator and would get better results and detailed diagnostics if you logged in as administrator.

Hope this helps and God bless.
