need PowerPC drivers for a Canon imageCLASS MF3010

Grandpa bought this used iMac down the street a couple of years ago he really likes. I didnt realize it was a PowerPC and bought a new printer for it. Is there any way to to get these new canon printers working with PPCs? Linux or unix drivers possible. I don't mind a tricky set up but scanning and printing need to be a smooth ride for grandpa. Thanks!

This Canon support page has 10.5 drivers for Intel Macs but not PowerPC:

You may have to look at third-party options like GimpPrint but those only allow printing, not scanning. I'm pretty sure you Grand is not going to get full use from this device. I looked at Brother MP devices; they have traditionally been better as supporting older Mac products. However, their entry level models now require an Intel Mac and OS 10.6 or higher.

Hi Don,

I just clicked on the link provided by Allan. Under Drivers & Downloads, Mac OS X Leopard v10.5 was manually chosen from the Operating System menu, resulting in four items (Recommended Downloads, English). However, generally speaking, one can never rule out that different items are presented on a web page depending upon where you are located and the type of computer used for the connection. The file under your link at least appears to have the same version number. Sorry, but I do not know more about the file(s) in question.
