Perpetual trouble with CanoScan 9000F Mark II in 'mavericks'

I've been having this problem for quite awhile now and hove gone through the many posts about this and have tried the fixes but to no avail. I've 'upgraded' to mavericks and now each time I use the scanner is quits unexpectedly. At times I'm able to scan once but then it just hangs and quits. Tried getting the new drivers and installing them, same thing. Is there a certain way they have to be installed? Do I need to uninstall the old drivers? I thought the drivers updated and deleted the old versions. Really frustrating. Tried using image capture, also a complete failure.

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system. This will require you to add back the machine, which should use the correct drivers. Have you checked Canon's website for Mavericks drivers?
