Storage & Secure Empty Trash

Hello!

I am trying to use Secure Empty Trash option but am unable to do so. Can any one suggest how to completely delete trash folder as the files in it our taking up most of the space on my computer in the heading ‘Other’.

Thanks

Linc has asked one of the two questions I had. I’d also like to verify that there’s something in your trash. You can open the trash and see its contents by click on it in the Dock. If there’s nothing in there, emptying it isn’t going to do anything. And as sberman noted, Secure Delete is no longer an option. In the old days this option actually wrote random data in the sectors where the file(s) were stored so they couldn’t be reread even using forensic data retrieval programs. However the way SSDs read and write secure erase just plain doesn’t work.
