Macbook Pro restarts after being in sleep mode

I've noticed that my Macbook Pro restarts after being in sleep for a few hours. It also makes a "grinding" sound after restarting. The same sound that it makes when it starts up. I have BRAND NEW hard drive in the Macbook (previous hard drive) failed. I was wondering if this was normal. It also did the same thing with the old hard drive btw.
