Import Mail from one iMac to Macbook Pro

Hi All,

I need to transfer all my mail from my iMac over to my Macbook Pro.

I don't need any preferences or rules etc. I just need access to them for reference purposes.

I'm aware that I can export a mailbox from the iMac, transfer the file and import it on to the Macbook Pro.

I have two questions:

1. Its quit a large set of emails, totaling over 10,000 over about 8 years. Will this cause a problem?

Not sure of the GB size as I don't currently have access to the iMac.

2. I've heard that there may be permission issues with this. Is there anything I should be aware of?

Both computers are mine, but my administrator name is different I think. They're both snyc'd via iCloud though. (except Mail :-)

Thanks for your help.

1. It shouldn't cause a problem, but it will take a long time to load.

2. After exporting the mailbox and copying it to the Macbook Pro, do a Get Info (command - I) on the mailbox to change permissions if required. Then click the Gear at the bottom and select Apply to enclosed items.
