Q: Can't access my data

I have regularly been backing up my IPhone 4 and have all the correct boxes ticked in settings for this to happen....however, I've only just needed to access the info (never bothered before) as I am changing phones. I have signed into icloud.com and see the icons for contacts etc but when I go into each one there is absolutely no data there. Any information appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I apologize for any confusion in this regard. Backing up data from your iOS device to iCloud is slightly different than syncing your data (like Contacts) to iCloud. To backup your data to iCloud, or transfer your backup to a new device, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

To set up sharing/syncing features of iCloud, like Contacts, you may find this article more useful:
