Q: MacBook Pro totally unresponsive
Hi !
I have a MacBook Pro 15" late 2008 that recently went completely unresponsive.
It had been working like a super stable horse for almost 7 years, battery changes twice – lately the battery needed renewal, but as I was almost always near a live socket, it was not an issue.
I then went on a photo shoot, bringing it along, not shut down but simply just closed. I only used my Mac once during the drive, and not at all during the shoot. When I came home the next day, there was no waking it up AT ALL. It did (does) not respond when the on/off button is pressed.
I have tried both with and without the battery inserted, but allways with the live wire connected. I have also done different reset procedures including the one where the battery is out.
Have any of you got an idea of what's wrong? I mean, nothing dramatic has happened to the good Mac, no dropping it, no coffee spilled in it or the like.
Is there by any chance a little mercury battery on the mother board somewhere, that might need replacing?
Best, Jes
