Q: iTunes iPhone sync turns my photos to "other"

If it won't install, you may need to remove the iTunes app from the Applications folder. Select the app and in Finder / File go to Get info. At the bottom, change all permissions to Read & Write and move it to the Trash. Then install iTunes.

Dec 10, 2015 3:22 AMby Kenichi Watanabe,If your computer is a Mac, are you setting iTunes to sync from the Photos app (or iPhoto) or from a folder on the Mac? You mentioned "albums" so that may mean you are syncing from Photos (or iPhoto). As a test, if you put a small collection of photos (or just image files) in a folder, and set iTunes to sync that folder, after the sync, do those photos still end up being "Other."

You may have a reason for not using it, but Photos can use your iCloud Photo Library

Then your photo library would not take up any space on your iPhone, and you can access photos from your iCloud Photo Library.
