Hold the home button and power button down together until you see the Apple logo on the screen. It may take up to 20 seconds.

Hard reset: Hold both the sleep/wake button and home button until phone turns off or resets.

Soft reset: Hold sleep/wake button until the slide to power off shows up. Slide the slider to power off phone.
