How do I connect AirPort Extreme to existing DSL/WiFi modem?

The instructions were clear that I should take the ethernet cable out of the DSL modem and plug it into my AirPort - but the only cable going into my DSL modem is a telephone cable? There is an empty ethernet slot on the back of the DSL modem however. By the way, my home wireless works pretty well as it is, just trying to increase the range in certain parts of my house where I get a poor signal. Once I connect the AirPort Extreme, I will be adding a few Airport Expresses to ensure coverage. But I have to figure out step one first:). Thanks for the help

The Setup Guide (page 10) that came with your AirPort Extreme makes "step one" pretty clear. Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme. Then, verify that the phone line connects from the modem to the wall jack.

Unfortunately, we cannot see your network, and do not know what "modem" you might be using........so if you need additional assistance, we must ask for your help in providing the manufacturer of the modem and the model number of the modem.

We also do not know what device that you might be a using to set up and configure the AirPort Extreme. Would this be a Mac? A PC? An iPhone or iPad?

If you will be using a Mac, we need to know what operating system that it might be using. If you are not sure about that, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the computer screen, then click on About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
