Why won't Safari 9.0.1 in El Capitan remember my cookies?

Dear community,

Since the El Capitan upgrade, and now in 10.11.1 also, whenever I log into gmail, youtube or some others, I need to put my credentials everytime.

It does not remember me just like before.

Alos google main page won't stop nagging me about new confidentiality rules everytime I go there.

I tried clearing cache, cookies, putting my old ~/Library/Safari folder aside, reinstalling El Capitan, still the same.

Am I the only one around witht that problem?

Thanks for the clues

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Passwords tab.

Make sure: AutoFill user names and passwords is selected.

Thank you. It was ticked already. I tried deleting the google elements from this location and relogging into websites afterwards to recreate them.

When quitting and relaunching safari I have to log in once again everywhere, there is no improvement.

Google is an example, but on this very site of Apple discussions, I have ticked yesterday "remember me on this computer" after my two factor identication but it ain't remembered in the same way. Thanks for you help and pleasure talking to you Carolyn. You are famous here along with Linc Davis because I read a lot but post very very rarely.

Try a restart.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Ever since I upgraded to El Capitan I too have been having the problem of Safari NOT keeping me logged into websites I frequently visit, forcing me to sign in again and again. Sites like: Google, Facebook and Hotmail.

I have thrown out cookies, cleaned cache, thrown out plists, deselected and selected the appropriate boxes/preferences like autofill passwords (keychain etc) but nothing has worked. I don't have this problem with Firefox or Chrome.

Did anyone come up with a definitive fix for this Safari problem?

Thanks
