Q: IMessage/Iphone problem

I am having problems with texting/Imessaging 1 of my contacts. We both have Iphones, I never turn my data/Imessage off. She will turn her data/imessage off from time to time to save data is my guess ... its annoying ...

Anyway, she is texting/Imessaging me just fine. I am getting all of her messages, she is not getting ANY of my messages. We can phone one another, but she does not get my texts. I am not on her blocked list, we went onto Whatsapp as that works and can message there. Any message I send her goes as a blue imessage. I have erased our convos and even deleted her as a contact and had her message me back, when I respond to her incoming message (after I had deleted her as a contact and deleted our convos) my phone still sends it as a blue imessage. The ONLY way she gets any of my messages is if I turn off my Imessage and then "text" her. This is stupid, I will not be turning my imessage off to just message one person....

Help please!!!

Does it say "Delivered" under the blue iMessage that you send to the friend you are trying to text?

As your friend is the on creating the problem by turning off data, suggest that she sign out of iMessage. Then, messages to her should go as SMS.

Meanwhile, make sure that Settings>Messages>Send as SMS is set to "on". It doesn't always work but it might help.

You can also tap and hold on the message you are trying to send to her and tap on "Send as Text Message" if it shows up as blue but doesn't say delivered. This will send that message and any future messages you send to that friend as text messages, which she will receive regardless of whether your friend has their data turned on or off. Plus you won't have to turn off your iMessage just so you can text your friend.

Yep my SMS thing is turned on, I suggested she do that ....

I have turned my phone on/off and deleted her .... the only way I can get a message to her is if I turn off my imessage and send as a text ... so annoying ... her messages are coming to me no problem ... and then when I turn imessage back on even if the last message sent as text it will send as blue imessage again and say delivered

It does not give this option at all as they are "delivering" as imessage .. the only way I can get the un-delivered message is if i: a) Turn airplane mode on and try and send or b) turn off imessage ....

This is occurring because of your friend turning off data. Her number is still associated with iMessage, so when you turn yours on, it is sending as an iMessage. If she is going to keep turning data off and on, then she needs to turn iMessage off and keep it off. Then your messages should go as SMS. If turning off iMessage does not help right away, she will need to deactivate her number from the iMessage database to remove it completely.

She says that she is not having any problems with any other contacts though ...

Have you deleted any conversations with her? You should remove any existing conversations and start over.

Did all of that deleted all convos and her as a contact before I even posted this. Then I told her to text me, I got her text, my reply went as a blue imessage even after i deleted convos, turned phone off, erased her as a contact and just had the message come through as just a phone number ...

Then, as I said before, if messages are going to her as iMessages, then she is still in the iMessage database. Does she have iMessage turned off, or just data? If she has iMessage turned off and your messages are still going to her as iMessages, then she may need to try and deactivate her iMessage as I indicated earlier. She would use this link. If you do not have many saved Wi-Fi connections, after removing her contact and deleting any conversation you have with her, you can try to reset your network settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. That will delete all of your saved Wi-Fi passwords, but will also reset the network. That may help restore your connection with this person. Again, it is just a problem with you sending to her, and not anyone else with an iOS device sending to her? Also, try and verify that she has iMessage turned off, and if she has used that link for deactivating.
