How do I retrieve deleted messages from I Phone 5?

Unfortunately there is no way to retrieve deleted text messages from an iPhone unless you had a previous backup in iTunes before you deleted the messages. Restoring that backup would then be the only way to retrieve the deleted messages. Once they are deleted they are gone forever, unlike Photos which you can now recover if accidentally deleted by restoring them from the "Recently Deleted" album.
