Q: How do I access my photos from my iPod that I backed up before getting my iPhone?

Months ago I was about to get a new iPhone and had an iPod that I gave to my sister. I had a lot of photos backed up to my iCloud but I have no idea how to actually access them. My iPhone shows up in my devices on iCloud and on the storage settings on my phone it shows that my iPod is still there. I have vacation and photos of family on there and i just want them back. Thanks for the help

    You would have to restore your iPhone using the backup from the iPod.

     

    Did you not import all of the photos to your computer?

     

    The backup is only for restoring to another idevice.  You cannot view/use them from the backup, other than to restore them to your iPhone/ipod.

    Just note the following when restoring the iPhone from the backup of the iPod:

    Data that won't transfer from one kind of device to another

    When you restore a device from a backup of another kind of device, like using an iPad backup for an iPhone, certain types of data won't transfer:

    • Photos
    • Messages and attachments in Messages
    • Voice Memos
    • Apps that aren't compatible with the device you’re setting up (For example, apps compatible only with iPad won't be transferred to your iPhone.)

    There are computer apps that can extract data from an iPod backup created by iTunes if the backup is not encrypted

    You can either back your photos on your computer and restore them on your phone or store from icloud/GDrive/Dropbox/OneDrive and it will restore!

    As I said in my previous post, restoring an iPhone form an iPod backup does NOT restore photos.
