In the latter case see Hide and unhide purchases in iTunes or iBooks on your Mac or PC - Apple Support. Are you signed in to the account these items were purchased with? Where are you? Download rights for past purchases is subject to regional variations, see Availability of iTunes redownloads - Apple Support. If they are broken in iTunes have you tried searching for them? I might have a repair tool that can reconnect to missing items, or it might be possible to retrieve them from your device if they are still there, or if redownloads are available to you then you can delete the broken entries in the library without hiding, close iTunes, reopen, and then download from your purchase history.
