The PPC Mac computers, with powerPC processor of 867MHz or faster, can run

the last supported Mac OS X version 10.5.8 tops. {The other/later are for Intel CPU

as there's no practical way to upgrade or run the Intel version OS X on PPC Mac.}

Earlier lower speed processors of under 867MHz can run as new as Tiger 10.4.11,

but there is an upper limit among older PPC processor models that reach to Tiger.

So some (earlier than G5, last PPC offered by Apple) way earlier were left behind

before the advent of Tiger or Leopard.

You could pick up an early model Mac Pro that looks like a G5 Power Mac tower in

the used and secondhand market, but no matter the version, the highest OS X they

could run is Leopard 10.5.8. So you'd need to get a retail install DVD 10.5. from an

online reseller such as Amazon or maybe ebay. Or a chance-find at a yard sale...

{Also: avoid gray-label install restore discs for different models and build series.

They may be sold as suitable, by those whose first priority is to sell them...}

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
