Looking at ordering a new ipod touch. When I go through the ordering process online it gives me the option to add the wall charger and cable. Does a new one seriously not come with a charger?

on the upside, iPods can be charged with pretty much any charger. I have a really sweet targus surge protector that has usb ports on it that I use to charge.
Originally I believe it was thought that people would simply charge it via their computer so no need for a charger
iPods charge using the standard USB voltage (5 volts).
Now that USB outlets are ubiquitous, there is no need to supply yet another one, that simply uses up the earth's resources unnecessarily. If you don't already have something suitable, buy a USB outlet, they come in different forms and then you will have one for all your devices.
