Q: how do i resolve missing "login" keychain folder?

I updated OS to most up to date version and had changed password on my macbook. But now i keep getting keychain missing "login" folder errors. For chrome and icloud etc. I have tried repair and nothing. I have tried looking in i think library/keychain folder and click login.keychain file but nothing restores the issue. Not sure what to do! I unfortunately dont have time machine on either ... so no going back!

I have been told maybe try a new user sign in to see if errors stop and then just drag my data off old user and reinstall to new user.

Any other work arounds or repairs!? im very desperate to get these errors off! Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Is it only in these two accounts that you have the problem?  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203192 You may have tried some of this. If it only applies to the two account ,you may need to delete the password for those accounts and reinter them. You can also try going to your home folder -library preferences and removing the keychain preference folder. Put it in the trash, but do not delete it. Restart and see if this fixes it.  The preference keychain folder will recreate itself. If you go to utilities/ keychain and double click the keychain that is not working, then click in the box/show password. You will get a box you can inter your user password and click allow and it will show the password used for that keychain.  If it is not there or incorrect change it.

If you've just changed your login password in Recovery mode, follow these instructions. Otherwise, see below.

At some point, you may have reset your login keychain in Keychain Access. That action would cause the keychain to be renamed.

Please back up all data before proceeding.

In Keychain Access, delete the login keychain from the keychain list. Choose Delete References when prompted, not Delete References & Files.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

    ~/Library/Keychains

    In the Finder, select

              Go ▹ Go to Folder...

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open. Rename the file "login.keychain" in that folder to something like "login-old.keychain". Rename the file "login_renamed_1.keychain" to "login.keychain". You can then close the folder.

    Back in Keychain Access, select

              File Add Keychain...

from the menu bar. Add back the file now named "login.keychain". If any of your needed keychain items are missing from it, also add back the file you named "login-old.keychain". I suggest you transfer any needed items from that keychain to the login keychain, then delete it. The transfers are made by drag-and-drop in Keychain Access. You'll need to enter your password for each item transferred.
